on footpaths and forgetting

I am struck today by how little of our paths reveal themselves even in the passing, by how much of our lives remain mysteries beyond any pale we might ever know, and by how readily we forget what little we do learn. Afoot on the path anyway, we are forgetting creatures. Fortunately for us, any path worth its salt has lessons a’plenty to dole out. Even those we forget can remake us anew every day.
